Restoration, 2010

Some small fixes planned for this year, let's see...

Differential leak

Differential started to leak last summer. As the whole bottom was wet from oil, I thought it is leaking from the propshaft bush/seal. And I decided to remove the whole rear axle to get easier access to that seal. Well, after removing the axle I found out that it is leaking from the backplate seal, which would have been easy to replace at situ... Well, no big deal, it is not too big a job to remove the axle and maybe I can refurbish something else now that it is removed.

Speedo and Tach

On last drives of summer 2010 speedo needle started to stay somewhere around 30 when stopped. When driving, it at least tried to get to higher speeds. I found out that needle was loose in it's axle and when stopping, needle bounced from stop pin back up and stayed there. I fastened the needle with hair spray, did not want to use real glue in case I need to open it some day. I also cleaned and lubricated mechanism.

My clock has been "Eck-clock" modified and worked well, but for some reason it started to go too fast. Mike offered to re-adjust it, but sending it to USA and back seemed too much hassle, so I calibrated it myself. I removed the tach with clock, set it ticking and did adjustments from screw on back, waited week or two and redid that. After 2 months adjustments clock seems now to be quite accurate.

Just driving

Nothing much else during 2010, just driving around happily :) On picture Ms.Moneypit in Northern Sweden, on longest trip during my possession, no problems.
